Every program at Ocean View Stables opens with an evaluation, because a price quoted before anyone has handled your horse is a guess. We find where his line actually is, then build the plan around the horse in front of us.
Groundwork comes before ridden work, every time. A horse who will not stand for the farrier or will not load is not being difficult, he is telling you what he expects to happen next. Training that argues with him only proves him right.
Who this is for
A horse with one specific thing wrong. He will not stand for the farrier. He will not load. He is fine for you and impossible for anyone else. He has lost his confidence under saddle after something went wrong.
These are almost always trust problems wearing the costume of a behaviour problem, which is why sedation and force make them worse over time rather than better. Each session confirms what the horse already believes.
How we work
The goal is never to make him tolerate the thing. It is to change what he expects when it happens, so that standing still becomes his idea. That work is unglamorous, and it is mostly about him choosing to stay rather than being held there.
Priced as training board
One number covers his 12x12 indoor stall, daily stall cleaning, alfalfa fed daily, 24/7 security, full use of the facility and trails, and the training itself. Nothing is added to it afterwards.
Horses already boarded here
Pay the training fee only, $1,400 for thirty days, billed on top of your existing board.
Owner sessions are included
A horse can be transformed in thirty days and back to his old self within three weeks of going home. So the person who actually handles him day to day is in the round pen with us before he leaves, at no extra cost. Otherwise he learns to trust us, which does you no good at all.
What you get in writing
Written progress notes as we go, including the sessions that did not work. A trainer who only reports good days is not reporting.
