Straight answers
The questions couples actually ask us, answered before you drive out here.
The property
How many guests can you host?
Up to 150. That covers the ceremony site on the bluff, the reception lawn, the hay barn and the ocean-view patios. If your list is bigger than 150, tell us the number and we will be straight with you about whether it works.
Where exactly are you, and how far is it from the city?
2152 Olympic Way, Daly City, CA 94015. About twenty minutes from downtown San Francisco. That matters more than it sounds: every other coastal ranch venue on this stretch is forty-five minutes to over an hour out, which means your guests need a hotel near the venue. Ours can stay in the city and drive out.
Is there parking, and how much?
On-site parking for over 100 vehicles, included in your package. No shuttle to arrange, no street parking, no valet bill, and no neighbours to apologise to. For a 150-guest wedding that is genuinely everyone.
Can guests stay the night?
Yes. We have eight tiny houses on the bluff at $500 a night. Book one or two for the wedding party, or take all eight as part of the Coastal Weekend and put your whole inner circle on the property.
Small weddings and elopements
Do you do elopements or micro-weddings?
Yes. The Bluff Ceremony is $2,500 — Tuesday to Thursday, three hours on the ocean bluff, 2 to 20 guests, with seating, parking, restrooms and the run of the grounds and the herd for photographs. It is the same ceremony site the 150-guest weddings use, on a quiet weekday.
Add a tiny house for $500 and stay the night. It is a genuinely beautiful way to do a small wedding without spending what a big one costs.
We are working with a planner or photographer. Can they book it?
Please do. We work happily with planners and elopement photographers, we take no commission and we do not require you to use anyone from a list. If you run elopement packages in the Bay Area and want a coastal ceremony site twenty minutes from the city, call us and we will talk about dates and rates.
What about a vow renewal or an anniversary?
The Bluff Ceremony works for those too. Same site, same price.
Weather, because you are going to ask
Is it foggy? Is it windy?
Sometimes, yes. We are on the Pacific and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Summer mornings can come in grey and usually burn off by early afternoon. Afternoons can carry a breeze off the water. September and October are typically our clearest, warmest months, and they book first for a reason.
What this means practically: plan for layers in your getting-ready photos, and budget for patio heaters if your reception runs into the evening. Every couple who has been married here has dealt with this and it has never once ruined a day. The light off the water when the fog lifts is the reason people book this place.
What is the plan if it rains?
We will walk you through the covered spaces and a wet-weather layout for your specific guest count when you tour. Bring it up. It is a fair question and we would rather answer it standing on the property than in an email.
Vendors, food and drink
Can we use our own caterer?
Yes. Any licensed, insured caterer is welcome. We do not charge a fee to bring one in, we do not take a commission on them, and we do not keep a list you are required to book from. On a 130-guest wedding that is usually worth several thousand dollars to you.
Can you cater it instead?
We can. We do in-house catering, and we also run the Cowboy Cookout, a five-course western meal that couples most often use for the Friday rehearsal dinner. Ask us for per-guest pricing.
Do we have to rent tables and chairs elsewhere?
Not unless you want to. We rent tables, farm tables, folding chairs and Chiavari chairs in-house. Bring your own rental company if you prefer — we do not charge you for the privilege either way.
What about the bar?
We offer a beer and wine bar starting at $1,800. If you would rather arrange service another way, raise it early. Licensing and insurance requirements apply and we will tell you exactly what is possible.
Do you have a preferred vendor list?
We are happy to recommend caterers, florists, photographers and rental companies who know the property and know how to load in here. Ask and we will send names. You are never obligated to use them.
When does the music have to stop?
Amplified music stops at 10:00 pm. That is our standing limit and we hold to it, so please do not plan a midnight send-off around a hope that we will not.
If you want to run later, it is possible: we can apply for a day permit for your date, and we handle the municipal coordination. Raise it early — a permit takes lead time and it costs more inside 60 days. Ask on the tour and we will quote it.
The horses
Are the horses actually part of the wedding?
They can be, as much or as little as you want. The most popular is the horse entrance at $800: a groomed, quiet horse and one of our handlers, walked in on cue. We also do horse photography sessions, pony rides at $200 an hour for the kids, and a petting zoo. Ask us and we will price the combination you want.
Can our guests ride?
Yes, and most people do not realise it is an option. This is a working riding stable — we run beach rides and lessons every day. A guided ride for the wedding party makes an excellent Friday welcome activity, and a day-after ride is a good excuse to keep everyone around on Sunday morning. Tell us how many riders and we will build it.
Is that safe with 150 people around?
This is a working horse ranch and horsemanship is what we do for a living. Every horse that comes out for an event is hand-picked for temperament and stays with a trained handler the entire time. Guests do not handle horses. Anyone riding signs a liability waiver and wears a helmet, no exceptions.
Can we just have them in the background?
The herd lives here, so yes. They are in the paddocks whether you book them or not, and they are in your photos for free.
Booking
What does it cost?
$2,500 for the midweek Bluff Ceremony (3 hrs, 2–20 guests). $9,500 for the Coastal Ranch Package (6 hrs, up to 150). $18,500 for the Coastal Weekend, which adds all eight tiny houses for the Friday and Saturday nights.
Every add-on price is published on our packages page. There are no mobilization, service or administration fees added on top. The number you see is the number on your quote.
How long do we actually get?
Six hours of event time on the Coastal Ranch Package, with a setup and breakdown window either side. Extra event time is $300 an hour, within the 10 pm music curfew unless we have secured a permit.
How do we hold a date?
Tour, then a written quote with every line itemised, then a signed agreement and a deposit. Dates are held in the order deposits land.
What is your cancellation policy?
It is set out in the agreement, which we send with your quote so you can read it before you commit to anything. Nothing about it is hidden or unusual, and we would rather you read it early than late.
